  • Overview



    Provide psychiatric services to consumers at Jefferson Center for Mental Health on an on-call, floater basis. Collaborate with prescribers in all phases of medication management and follow-up, medication groups, medication problems and side effects. Identify potential physical problems impacting the mental health consumers.


    Be part of our on-call floater pool. No guarantee of hours. M-F scheduled opportunities.


    • Coordinate prescription refills; respond to all refill requests with 3 business days
    • Coordinate PAP refills
    • Assist clients with medication box refills
    • Perform injections
    • Review and order labs, notify prescriber of any abnormal labs requiring immediate attention
    • Assist prescribers in tracking and meeting timeframes for annual labs
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
    • Stock and reconcile the medication cabinets
    • Provide clients with medication education
    • Triage phone calls from clients. Return calls promptly, within 24 hours during work days
    • Monitor and review clients’ charts for medication/medical issues with appropriate follow-up
    • Coordination of care with clients, prescribers, including documentation of medical medications and dosing, physical diagnoses, monitoring of potential medication interactions with psychiatric medications and referrals as indicated
    • Submit prior authorizations to clients’ insurance in a timely manner
    • Address medication changes with prescribers
    • Have an understanding of how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, so that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process and reduces the possibility of retraumatization
    • Participate in the Center’s training/educational programs designed to enhance knowledge about Trauma Informed Care, the impact of trauma and trauma recovery
    • Ensure that delivery practices are guided by the principles of trauma informed care

     Other Duties:

    • Maintain effective interpersonal relations with clients, peers, management, visitors, and the general public
    • Effectively respond to clients’ needs and problems, initiate and maintain positive interactions, and provide timely response to phone calls, emails and other requests
    • Work cooperatively with other community agencies
    • As appropriate and as agreed with supervisor, participate in committees and task forces of the Center or the community
    • Attend and complete all required training in a timely manner


    • Candidate must have Medical Assistant Certification through an accredited college (CAAHEP or ABHES)
    • Must be knowledgeable of psychiatric medications and typical dosing parameters
    • Required to have knowledge of psychiatric care/mental health diagnoses and treatment
    • Working knowledge of psychiatric care/mental health diagnoses & treatment
    • Candidate must have the ability to communicate well with clients from all walks of life
    • Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with staff and providers
    • Must possess basic computer skills
    • Bilingual helpful, but not required
